Filmmaker Fiesta

Overnight Program
|
AGES 11-13

Filmmaker Fiesta invites campers to unleash their creativity and storytelling skills in a dynamic camp experience focused on filmmaking in the stunning outdoor landscape of Telluride. Participants will learn the basics of cinematography using state-of-the-art GoPro cameras, exploring framing, angles, and editing techniques while discovering how to tell powerful visual stories.

Each day, campers will embark on exciting outdoor adventures — capturing the beauty of nature and the thrill of action sports, from hiking to mountain biking. Midweek, the group will head out for a single overnight camping adventure, offering the perfect chance to film golden sunsets, campfire scenes, and the magic of mountain nights under the stars.

With guidance from professional filmmaker and photographer Brett Schreckengost, campers will receive expert instruction and inspiration to bring their stories to life. Guided by experienced instructors, they’ll collaborate to create short films that showcase their unique perspectives and creative voices. The camp culminates in a time-lapse star shot and a lively mini-film festival, where campers will present their projects to friends and family — celebrating their hard work, teamwork, and artistic vision.

Join us for a week of fun, creativity, and unforgettable memories as we bring stories to life through the lens!

A detailed daily itinerary will be provided to you on the Monday morning of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
