Lunar Llamas: A Backcountry Adventure That’s Out of This World!
Embark on an unforgettable journey into Colorado’s breathtaking backcountry with our Lunar Llamas adventure! On Day 1, lace up your boots for a 4-mile trek into our stunning base camp nestled in the forest along the Kilpacker basin. With gentle elevation changes (+/- 750 feet), the hike is a perfect introduction to this wild and beautiful landscape, offering jaw-dropping views to set the tone for your adventure.
From base camp, the fun really kicks off with two epic day hikes! First, explore the high-altitude beauty of the Navajo Lake area, perched at timberline in the alpine tundra. Surrounded by rugged peaks and serene wilderness, this 5-mile round-trip hike is like stepping into a postcard. Then, dive deeper into adventure as we hike into Kilpacker Basin, a dramatic valley at the base of two towering 14ers: El Diente and Mt. Wilson. Whether you’re a seasoned explorer or new to high-country trekking, these hikes will leave you speechless.
On the final day, we pack up and hike out on another gorgeous 4-mile trail, capping off the journey with sweeping views and the satisfaction of conquering this wilderness loop. With llamas carrying our gear and your sense of adventure leading the way, Lunar Llamas offers a unique blend of challenge, camaraderie, and breathtaking beauty. Join us for a trek you’ll never forget!
