Adventure Awaits on the Trail!

Calling all young explorers! Trek It Out is your chance to step into the shoes (and boots!) of real mountaineers and discover the magic of Colorado’s alpine wilderness. Telluride’s mountains are calling, and it’s time to answer with an unforgettable backpacking adventure!

Pack your gear, because this two-night wilderness excursion is all about self-supported exploration. Hike through stunning wildflower meadows, climb into the heart of majestic peaks, and set up your base camp in the great outdoors. Along the way, you’ll dive into fun, hands-on workshops that teach essential backcountry skills. From trip planning and map reading to Leave No Trace ethics and mastering the art of base camp setup, you’ll learn what it takes to thrive in the wilderness.

But this trip isn’t just about climbing mountains—it’s about discovering what you’re capable of! With every step, you’ll conquer challenges, make new friends, and soak in incredible views that will leave you in awe.

Are you ready to see the world from the top? Join us for Trek It Out and make this summer an adventure to remember!

All participants in need will receive Telluride Academy backpacks, sleeping bags and sleeping pads while participating in this program! Gear will be used by instructors to teach proper packing techniques on the first day and will go home with students the night before their overnight backpacking trips. We ask that you bring an empty duffel bag on the morning of your overnights so your child’s gear can be taken home easily at the end of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
