Tree Huggers

Day Program
|
AGES 6-8

Get ready to branch out and explore the wonderful world of trees! In Tree Huggers, campers will spend the week discovering the magic of our local forests and learning how the trees of the San Juan Mountains help keep our planet healthy and happy.

Each day is packed with hands-on adventures and creative fun; we’ll identify native trees, create beautiful tree-inspired art projects, and even plant real trees for Seas of Trees reforestation initiative!

Of course, no Telluride Academy week would be complete without outdoor action. Campers will enjoy hiking beneath shady canopies, splashing around on SUP boards, and scaling the rocks like mountain squirrels; all while building friendships and a deeper connection to the natural world.

By week’s end, our young environmentalists will have a new appreciation for the forests that surround us and the confidence to keep growing like the mighty trees they’ve come to love!

A detailed daily itinerary will be provided to you on the Monday morning of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
