New Mexico is a hub for all things ADVENTURE! With a gorgeous landscape of alpine desert and scenic rivers, legendary history and culture, and an art scene that spans all ages and styles, this is a truly one- of-a-kind state with endless excitement and opportunities to explore! This Telluride Academy program takes us to New Mexico for a multi-day, self-supported river excursion down the Rio Chama with Far Flung Adventures. We’ll guide our own inflatable kayaks through the pristine, quiet waters beneath multi-colored sandstone cliffs, spend our evenings at gorgeous riverside beaches and enjoy campfire cuisine beneath a starry sky. When we take off the river we’ll check into a local hostel and spend a full day visiting world-renowned museums, reveling in the incredible uniqueness of the town’s galleries and learning about native culture. This week-long adventure will leave you with an increased appreciation for regional culture and a perpetual love for the river!

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
