Experience an unforgettable high-altitude adventure with Peak Baggers – Ballard, a Friday-only trek designed for adventurers of all ages! Open to families and young explorers alike, this program invites campers and their parents to summit Ballard Peak, towering at 12,804 feet. Together, you’ll take on a challenging yet rewarding hike that offers awe-inspiring views of the Telluride valley and the stunning San Juan Mountains.

Along the way, participants will learn essential backcountry skills like navigation, pacing, and mountain safety, creating a unique opportunity to bond as a family while tackling the great outdoors. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a family looking to share an epic adventure, Peak Baggers – Ballard is the perfect way to connect with nature, challenge yourself, and make lasting memories.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
