Ready for two nights of mountain fun with the boys?

Join us for an Odyssey to the Opus Hut, a two-night, all-boys trip packed with exploration, teamwork, and nonstop fun in the San Juan Mountains.

Based out of the cozy Opus Hut on the Silverton side of Ophir Pass, we’ll spend our days hiking to crystal-clear alpine lakes, roaming wide-open meadows, building forts, and taking on group games and team challenges that build confidence and camaraderie. This trip is all about moving our bodies, working together, and forming strong friendships in a high-energy outdoor setting.

Evenings slow things down with campfires, s’mores, stories, and stargazing beneath a sky bursting with stars. After two nights of mountain magic, we’ll cap off the adventure with a celebratory soak at the Ouray Hot Springs before heading back to Telluride tired, happy, and full of stories.

Notes:

– If families and campers are coming from out-of-state, they should try to arrive a day or two before the start of the trip to acclimatize to the altitude. Opus Hut is located at 11,000 feet, over 2000+ feet higher than the elevation of Telluride (8750 feet).

– Campers do NOT need a backpacking/expedition pack for this trip. The Opus Hut is a short hike (less than 1/4 mile) from the parking area near the top of Ophir Pass. They will need a backpack for the day hikes out of Opus Hut.

A detailed daily itinerary will be provided to you on the Monday morning of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
