Happy llama, sad llama, totally RAD llama! Hidden out amongst the windy ranges of western Colorado rests an obscure and unknown ranch that is home to a furry band of brethren and a curious collection of camelids, that is known by locals as “Llama Land.” The ranch, run by the experts at Redwood Llamas, is home to ONE HUNDRED llamas! We’ll spend the first day of this program in Telluride- getting to know each other, learning about llamas and planning for the week. We’ll pack our bags Tuesday morning and venture off to this magical world of llama love for a double overnight. At the ranch, we’ll get up close and personal with the llamas, learning everything we need to know about these furry creatures. We’ll help train baby llamas, feed the llamas, take them on hikes, learn their names and personalities and get our fair share of llama snuggles. We’ll also hike through the canyons of this massive ranch and discover ancient Ancestral Puebloan ruins that hide within the property. On our final day, we’ll say goodbye to our new friends and stop for ice cream at the Depot before making our way home! You won’t want to miss this fun week full of sassy llama drama!
*Students can begin participating in our backcountry llama treks at age 11. Get hooked on llamas at the ranch before you age into our long-lived “Llama Trekking” programs!
