Lime Creek Llamas: A High-Alpine Llama Adventure!
Get ready for an epic five-day backpacking and camping journey into the heart of the stunning San Juan Mountains, where llamas aren’t just pack animals—they’re your adventure companions!
Our furry friends from Redwood Llamas will take care of the heavy lifting, carrying food, tents, and kitchen gear, while you pack your clothes and sleeping bag for the adventure. Together, we’ll trek into breathtaking high-altitude terrain, climbing above 11,000 feet to set up our alpine base camp at the headwaters of Lime Creek. The views are spectacular, the air is crisp, and the experience is unforgettable!
The rest of the week is packed with fun and exploration. We’ll hike sections of the Colorado Trail, build llama obstacle courses to test their agility, and kick back by the campfire under star-filled skies. Along the way, you’ll learn about the llamas’ quirky personalities, fascinating habits, and how they’re the perfect hiking buddies.
By the end of the week, you’ll return with new friends (human and llama), incredible stories, and a deep appreciation for these unique creatures and Colorado’s majestic wilderness.
Note: While the llamas carry most of the group gear, you’ll need to hike moderate terrain with your personal pack. Be prepared for afternoon monsoons with rain gear and pack warm layers for cool mountain nights. If you’re prone to altitude sickness, we recommend arriving in Telluride a few days early to acclimate.
Join us for this llama-tastic adventure of a lifetime!
