High Camp Harmony

Overnight Program
|
AGES 10-12

Welcome to High Camp Harmony, where nature meets self-care. Immerse yourself in guided yoga sessions, develop campfire cooking skills and bond with fellow campers through a series of skill-building and team-building activities. This camp strikes the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.

We’ll kick our week off with a local hike and a journaling workshop to set the tone for a harmonious week. On Tuesday, we’ll pack our backpacks and trek into the San Juan National Forest to find our backcountry home for the next two nights. Once settled at the hut, we’ll engage in group games to strengthen our camaraderie. We’ll spend the rest of our week participating in guided yoga and reflection sessions, cooking healthy communal meals, hiking through the Lizard Head Wilderness and even taking a dip in the wood-burning hot tub! Students will be sure to leave this program both happy and rejuvenated!

All participants will receive Telluride Academy backpacks, sleeping bags and sleeping pads while participating in this program! We ask that you bring your child’s belongings in a duffle bag on the first morning so instructors can help students properly pack their provided backpacks. Students must also bring a bottom sheet and towel to High Camp!

Important Notes: This is a great intro backpacking program! The trail to High Camp is two-miles with moderate grade. Students should feel comfortable hiking this trail with some weight on their backs. High Camp sits at over 11,000 feet. We recommend arriving to Telluride a few days early for any student prone to altitude sickness.

Schedule:
Monday – Thursday
The group departs for a double overnight on Tuesday.

*All programs in Sessions 5.1 and 5.2 will be based out of the Telluride Mountain School in Lawson Hill.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
