Furry Friends (Day)

Day Program

AGES 10-13

Furry Friends is the perfect camp for animal lovers!

This service-based educational camp partners with the Telluride Humane Society and Second Chance Humane Society to give campers hands-on experience with the adoption process and caring for animals in need. Throughout the week, students will learn about animal adoption and welfare, help with daily tasks like walking, feeding, grooming, and even assist in training exercises to prepare pets for adoption. The camp culminates in a special adoption event at the Friday Farmer’s Market in Telluride, where campers will help match their furry friends with loving homes. It’s a rewarding experience that fosters compassion, responsibility, and community service, while giving campers the chance to make a difference in the lives of animals!

A detailed daily itinerary will be provided to you on the Monday morning of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
