Call of the Wild

Overnight Program
|
AGES 10-12

This all NEW “Call of the Wild” program brings us to the southwest corner of the state to Durango, Colorado. In collaboration with San Juan Mountain Association, this program turns students into young naturalists with a desire to explore and protect the land through stewardship and hands-on exploration. Our week with SJMA will send us exploring wildlife habitats, sampling the local watershed, identifying native flora and fauna and truly rooting ourselves in the wonders of nature. When we aren’t learning about all things “wilderness,” we’ll be busy adventuring through the forests and meadows of La Plata county and telling stories around the campfire, under the stars. This program focuses on embracing the beauty and tranquility of wild spaces, while learning how to respect and protect them.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
