Buggin’ Out

Day Program
|
AGES 6-8

Welcome to Buggin’ Out, where you’ll journey into the magical and mystifying world of bugs as you become a certified and trained bug expert. Grab your magnifying glass and your curiosity caps as we set out on an inquisitive expedition to learn about the buzzing, flying, and crawling creatures that rule this kingdom. We’ll spend our days embarking on muddy and messy adventures as we discover where they live, what they eat, and how they move. As part of our exploration, we’ll participate in a hands-on environmental education session led by the Pinhead Institute, diving deeper into insect science and the important role bugs play in healthy ecosystems. Along the way, we’ll also enjoy a mix of classic outdoor fun, including art projects, scenic hikes, a rock-climbing session, and even a SUP/boating adventure. We’ll make costumes that transform us into our favorite crawling creatures, build sanctuaries for our new little friends, and maybe even discover some new species. This will be a big adventure into the tiny universe of bugs!

A detailed daily itinerary will be provided to you on the Monday morning of the program.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
