Flume Flow

Overnight Program
|
AGES 11-15

Ready to ride the wave from beginner to river warrior? Flume Flow is a dynamic week-long whitewater adventure designed for aspiring paddlers eager to build confidence on moving water while exploring some of Southwest Colorado’s most iconic river features.

We kick off the week on Monday at the Montrose Water Sports Park, where instructors introduce campers to the fundamentals of whitewater safety, paddling technique, river features, and boat control. Once the basics are in place, we’ll take those skills downstream—literally.

On Tuesday, we gear up for a double overnight. After paddling the valley floor section of the San Miguel, we’ll travel to Paradox Valley to prepare for an overnight expedition on the Dolores River. On Wednesday, campers will put their skills to the test as they navigate sections near the historic Hanging Flume, working as a team to scout lines, read the water, and tackle new challenges. That evening, we’ll camp under the stars along the river, fully immersed in a classic multi-day paddling experience.

By Thursday, we return to Telluride, celebrating a week of courage, growth, and river-borne adventure—connected by new friendships, shared laughter, and the steady rhythm of the water.

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
