Two Week Day Program

AGES 9-13

This all NEW program collaboration with Telluride Theater provides students with the opportunity to be creative, find hidden talents, make lifelong friends and have an empowering theatrical experience. During “Free Box Theater,” students will use found items and found stories to create a theater piece. All props, costumes and scenery will be found in Telluride’s Free Box or scavenged from other local places. The cast will co-create an original script with members of the Telluride Theater ensemble and will have the opportunity to perform or work “behind the scenes.” Each day will be a focused blend of exciting outdoor adventures such as boating and climbing, theater workshops and rehearsals- all meant to tap into students’ creativity and self-confidence. On the final day, the “Free Box Theater” cast will put on a unique performance for friends and family!

Schedule:

Week 1: Monday – Thursday

No overnight

Week 2: Monday – Thursday

No overnight. Show for family and friends on Thursday afternoon (time TBD).

Telluride Academy's Overnight Policy

Our talented instructors work hard to combat student homesickness on overnight programs. For many students, this experience might be their first time camping or away from home! In the days leading up to the overnight(s), the instructors have positive conversations with the groups to get them excited and prepared for their overnight adventures. This dynamic gets interrupted when a student is picked up early from their overnight. For this reason, we can not accommodate early pick-ups, unless in the case of an emergency. If your child does not want to attend the overnight, or if you have prior commitments that require early pick-up accommodations, we ask that you consider choosing a day program instead. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.
